Policy Development and Advocacy
About PDA
The Policy Development and Advocacy Department (PDA), one of the three major departments of CLB, focuses on the following:
- Create awareness and advocacy for children’s rights from the local to the international level.
- Research and monitoring of children’s situation-
- Advocate for legislation and mechanisms for the protection of the rights and welfare of the children.
- Develop thematic campaigns broadly on children’s rights, and particularly on juvenile justice, the protection of children against child abuse and exploitation, and the promotion of child participation.
These objectives are achieved by doing research on and advocating for policy reform, particularly on legislations that may affect children.
The PDA also monitors the Philippines’ compliance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. This is done through attending and conducting meetings with government agencies and non-government organizations. CLB is a member of various councils, such as the Regional Council for the Welfare of Children (RCWC) and Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT); and is a pioneer of the Children’s NGO Network (CNN).
